Our Story

LEKNIN JEWELS is a lifelong dream finally coming true of its founder Eshantha (Esh) Jayatilleke. Esh has spent the last 25+ years working in a corporate environment outside his Ceylon homeland. Staying out of Sri Lanka moulded him into a cosmopolitan global citizen, but it didn’t make him forget neither his dreams, nor his roots. Back in Sri Lanka he began to turn this dream into a reality. Using his immense creativity for the jewellery designs led by heart, his inspiration comes from many sources. It’s sometimes triggered by his photographer’s eye capturing a moment or a detail that could easily slip the eyes of the others.

‘Leknín‘ means water-lily in Czech and deep purple water-lily is Sri Lankan national flower. Having spent some time in beautiful Czechia and falling in love with the intricate sounds of Czech language, Esh picked this Czech word for his company’s name.

At LEKNIN JEWELS, we can custom-make the jewels per your wish and order thanks to the skillful hands of our jeweler Jagath. Jagath has over 25 years of experience in the craft. He simply loves to work with precious metals and stones for the final outcome and excitement in the eyes of his customers. He says Ceylon has the largest variety of colours and types of gem stones. That’s why his work can never become boring for him.

Kristi (Kristina Holisova), based out of Prague in Czech Republic, manages the marketing of the European sector. Kristi enjoys wordplay, expression and some pun fun apart from learning to chase good waves whenever her corporate duties allow her. She’s responsible for social media and webpage texts as well as naming each jewel uniquely, and occasionally giving an inspiration for a design to be created.

Having initiated his business overseas and primarily catering to the European market, it was time to bring focus to his homeland to share his dream and passion locally. With the eminent need of a genuine business partner who’d share common values, he built collaboration with a dear friend and a professional, Chandhi (Chandini Gunarathne) to form LEKNIN JEWELS (LK). Being a cheerful and bubbly professional herself, Chandhi will lead LEKNIN JEWELS (LK) marketing and expansions while providing insights to cater local demands.
