All of our jewellery is made from highest quality silver, gold or platinum. With the correct care and storage it should last a lifetime. We’ve put together a few pieces of advice which if followed will help to keep it looking beautiful throughout.
CARE
- Keep away from household chemicals such as perfumes, cleaning products and hairspray as these can all accelerate tarnishing of the metal.
- Remove your jewellery prior to gardening, gym workout, cleaning etc. Some jewelleries can be prone to fine scratches during rough use.
- Remove your jewellery before washing or swimming in particular (chlorine is particularly harmful).
- When your jewellery is not being worn, it is advisable to keep them wrapped in tissue or light crêpe paper that has not been perfumed.
- Some gemstones are harder than others (see Mohs Scale of Hardness). To keep the gemstones in its optimal condition, it is worth considering this when deciding on cleaning, frequency of wear, storing etc.
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight in some gemstones (such as amethyst) can cause their colour to change very slightly.
CLEANING
- To brighten up your jewellery, they can be cleaned using warm soapy water and an ultra-soft brush or with a silver cloth.
- Make sure that the vessel used is oil free
- Boil the soapy water and let it cool off until it’s warm before washing
- Rinse under cold water and dry thoroughly with a clean dry soft cloth
- Some gemstones such as turquoise, pearls and opals (for example) can be damaged in an ultrasonic cleaner so only clean these using warm soapy water
